From the August 6 media advisory of KARAPATAN on the second hearing on Aug. 7:

"During the first hearing [Augu.1], Lt. Col. Rogelio Boac [photo at the left], Commanding Officer of the army's Task Force Bulacan which AOR includes Hagonoy (the place where the two young women and a local peasant Manuel Merino were abducted on June 26), denied that the three missing persons are in their custody. He also said he would be presenting a witness to counter the allegations that the 3 missing persons are in their custody.

"Previously, sometime after June 26, Col. Boac said they do not know any Sherlyn or Karen but said 2 women NPAs were captured in Hagonoy named Ka Siera and Ka Tanya. Last Thursday, Gen. Jovito Palparan allegedly repeated the same statement at the TV program Debate on Thursday, prompting Atty. Fernandez to file a motion at the court to oblige the military to bring Tanya and Siera before the court on Monday. It also prompted the two mothers and a KARAPATAN team to go back to Task Force Bulacan Headquarters yesterday, August 5, to ask Boac if they could see who this Tanya and Siera were. Boac said they do not have Tanya and Siera with them and instead introduced to them an alleged rebel returnee, Joy. Joy only went on to say that she used to be with the armed movement and her family were NPA members and supporters but she's now with the military.

"So tomorrow, we will hear the response of Col. Boac and company and we shall see if the military will bring Tanya and Siera before the court."

The military did not present Tanya and Sierra in today's hearing. Gen. Palparan also did not attend the meeting. The CA gave the lawyers of the military two days to determine when Gen. Palparan will be available. The next hearing was set on Aug. 15, 10 AM.
