The Ecumenical Movement for Justice and Peace (EMJP) in cooperation with the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) sponsored a walkathon at the Baywalk (Roxas Blvd) dubbed A Celebration of Life, A Walk for Justice. The walk for justice was led by Bishop Toquero and Bishop Bolocon.
Peace makers and justice seekers come together to uphold and defend civil liberties. |

Just before reaching the South end of the US embassy compound, Manila police operatives blocked the Walk for Justice participants, asked for a permit but had to confer first with the US embassy security before allowing them walk past the compound to reach the Grandstand area. |

Another unit of Manila police stopped the participants a second time after walking past the US embassy area and just several meters to the Grandstand area where a torch ceremony would be held. |
