▲Ms. Marie Hilao-Enriquez, KARAPATAN Secretary General, was the first of the 11 NGOs that gave an oral intervention on March 28 during the interactive dialogue on the report of Mr. Alston. Alston gave his report to the UNHRC on the 27th at the Palais de Nations in Geneva. Part of the report dealt on his visit to the Philippines. Because there was no time left on the 27th, the interactive dialogue was continued on the following day.

Ms. Enriquez reported that other countries put out their statements and questions to Mr. Alston (who reported together with two other special rapporteurs) first with 5 mins each to speak, and then the NGO's were allowed to deliver their statements (3 minutes each).

Ms. Enriquez said they were surprised when, out of the 11 NGO's which delivered statements, 5 dealt on the extrajudicial executions in the Philippines.

Ms. Enriquez' statement was jointly supported by the world council of churches, the Foundation for Aboriginal and Islander Research Action (FAIRA), the international Indian treaty council, the Canadian Council of Churches and The Netherlands Center for Indigenous Peoples.
