Holganza’s termination The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and the ANAKPAWIS party list group condemned the killing two of its members in the province and wounding three others by military personnel. The groups lambasted the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) particularly its 101st Brigade for terrorizing farmers and residents in the area, especially in New Bataan. According to Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP and ANAKPAWIS party list nominee, “the 101st Brigade killed Elias Mabundas, 25, and Auling Bugahod, 50, both residents of Barangay (village) Pagsilaan in New Bataan. They also wounded Warlito Villafuerte, 40, Monith Bugahod, 20, and Beato Suralta, 40, who are all members of the Nagkahiusang Mag-uuma sa Pagsalaan (United Farmers of Pagsalaan), our local chapter,” “The military is in a rampage in Compostela Valley and there is martial rule in New Bataan which is under the direct control of Brig. General Carlos Holganza. Our leaders in the area are being threatened and the soldiers are on a killing spree. They are terrorizing the farmers and other residents of the area to cover for their exposed lies regarding Grecil Gelacio, the 9 year old girl they killed,” added Marbella . “They are making the people pay for the humiliation they themselves caused upon themselves. This really exposes the fascist character of the AFP and the Macapagal-Arroyo regime that supports it. We are calling for the immediate pull-out of the troops in Compostela Valley before more people are killed by these rabid soldiers,” said the peasant leader. “We are also calling for the immediate termination of Gen. Holganza from the service because his actions are more of a warlord rather than a soldier. We will also bring this issue to the international community to further expose the horrible human rights situation in our country,” ended Marbella . # # #
