Labor Center condemns blast and calls it “a handiwork of a sick mind”; condoles with victims The Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Labor Center condoles with the survivors of the victims of the bombing last night at the Batasang Pambansa called which killed 3 people, including Marcial Talbo, driver of Rep. Luz Ilagan of Gabriela Womens Party, while injuring scores of people. “The bombing of Batasan Pambansa is clearly a handiwork of a sick mind aimed to sow fear among us. The chilling message is that no one is safe anymore, whether you are shopping in mall or inside a supposed secured place like the Lower House. We want a thorough and independent probe of the incident and an immediate sacking of security officials of the Lower House for the security breach which lead to the murders and injury,” said Elmer “Ka Bong” Labog, National Chairperson of the KMU. According to news report, police investigators are pointing to enemies of Rep. Wahad Akbar as suspects. “The police are again confusing the people by immediately releasing unverified theories on what actually transpired last night just like what they did during the Glorietta blast, to which up to now the police still has no official report. Such irresponsible remarks open doors for whitewash , ” opined Labog. The labor leader expressed worry the incident might be used by the crisis-ridden regime of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to seek the use of emergency measures and declare Martial Law. “Arroyo might do a Musharaff wherein after the bombing of the convoy of opposition led by Benazir Bhutto, General Pervez Musharraf suspended Pakistan's constitution and declared a State of Emergency, leading to hundreds of arrest of his political opponents.” em
