From National Coordinating Committee ng Malcolm X Grassroots Movement
Message of condolences
On behalf of the National Coordinating Committee of the Malcolm X
Grassroots Movement (MXGM), we express our deep sadness on the news about
the passing of Rep. Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran. To his family, to the
Anakpawis Partylist, the national democratic movement, the folks engaged
in the struggle for self-determination in the Philippines, we convey our
most sincere condolences.
For more than a half a century, Ka Bel has dedicated his life to the
service of his people through being a staunch fighter for human rights and
national liberation. Under some of the most repressive conditions that the
US-dominated reactionary Philippine regimes has put him under, Ka Bel
never lost sight of his principles, and believed that in power through
struggle, the popular masses will triumph. Being a militant national
leader of KMU and of BAYAN, and also playing an integral role in the
formation and leadership of the ILPS, Ka Bel saw that it is imperative to
have mass organizations from around the world coordinate efforts to combat
imperialist globalization and corporate domination.
Ka Bel will forever be an example of life-long dedication and struggle
against the manifestations of imperialism and will live through the hearts
and minds of oppressed peoples. We will never forget his exceptional
contributions to our common cause.
We honor Ka Bel, and vow to further strengthen our solidarity with the
national democratic struggle and the people of the Philippines. His memory
lives on in struggles internationally for self-determination, national
liberation and democracy. Ka Bel will forever be remembered, as was one of
the world's foremost labor union leaders and working class Filipino
anti-imperialist and we will continue to hold the banners of struggle high
in our common cause to free the land and to free the people!
Long live Ka Bel!
Long live International Solidarity!
Free the Land!
