Members of the All UP Workers Union and All UP Academic Employees Union and their familites spent this morning distributing relief goods to a community in Bgy Pinyahan, Quezon City, which was overwhelmed by floods during the typhoon. Three persons were killed in that community.

We had around 100 pails of relief goods containing 3 kilos of rice, three cans of sardines, one bar of laundry soap, one bar of bath soap, 1 pack sanitary napkins and old clothes. The distribution went well as we coordinated with the local community organization, Kadamay, and with local officials. So they had the list of affected families and distributed stubs to them.

Our relief goods were inadequate but we are still soliciting donations to buy at least rice. So far we have bought and distributed 9 sacks of rice costing P1,400 each.

Cash and in- kind donations were made by the various chapters of the two unions, individual UP personnel who were not affected by the flood and relatives of UP employees. Buying, repacking and distribution were done by the administrative staff, REPS and faculty and their families.
