ILPS Netherlands Respond to Global Day of Action

In response to the call of the International League of Peoples' Struggle for a Global Day of Action, and in support of the Call Occupy Amsterdam, ILPS organizations in The Netherlands joined the more than 2000 demonstrators in front of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange last 15 October 2011 to protest against capitalism's greed for profit at the expense of people's interest and welfare and against imperialist plunder and wars of aggression.

The ILPS protesters carried placards and umbrellas with slogans: "Jobs Not Cuts!", "People First Not Big Business!", "End  Imperialist Plunder and Wars of Aggression!", and "Job! Health Care! Education! is a Right!"

A member of a youth organization, 14-year old Marikit Saturay, performed the Dutch rap entitled "Meneer President! (Mr. President)" where she took the president of the Philippines to task for the continuing extra-judicial killings, political prisoners and other grave human rights situation in the country.

Through statements, songs, poetry and faces painted with slogans, the demonstrators expressed their anger over the financial  magnates and the right-wing government's policies that are destroying the livelihood of the people. The economic policies force  the people to pay more for basic social services and activities, as well as implement destructive austerity measures. On the other  hand, top corporate managers and financial magnates continue to receive fat salaries and bonuses. But recovery from the economic crisis seem out of sight, and the crisis of the world capitalist system is now turning into a protracted depression.

The crisis is unleashing the forces of discrimination, racism, religious bigotry and war mongering not only in the Netherlands but  worldwide. Therefore, it is urgent that we intensify our struggle against monopoly capitalism and fight for greater freedom, democracy, social justice, full employment and better living conditions, development and world peace.

ILPS CALLS FOR GLOBAL ACTION ON OCTOBER 15 AGAINST IMPERIALIST PLUNDER, REPRESSION AND WAR
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson
International League of Peoples’ Struggle
8 October 2011

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle calls on all its global region committees, national chapters and member-organizations as well as its allies to arouse, organize and mobilize the broad masses of the people for street marches and assemblies at the most prominent public places on the Global Day of Action on the 15th of October.

We urge ILPS-USA and its allies to participate vigorously in the occupy actions at Wall Street and all over the US. It is of great importance to wage resistance in the belly of the beast.

We unite for global change with all possible forces of the people along the anti-imperialist and democratic line. We must initiate the mass actions or participate in those initiated by other forces. We must cooperate and conjoin with a broad range of forces interested in any of the 18 concerns of the ILPS. We must protest and resist imperialist plunder, state repression and wars of aggression and demand the immediate end of these in order to bring about a better life for the people.

We condemn monopoly capitalism and its persistent neoliberal policy of unbridled greed for devastating the social conditions and natural environment and for escalating state terrorism and wars of aggression under various pretexts. Spearheaded by the financial oligarchy, the monopoly bourgeoisie has ruined the lives of the working people and even the middle class in both developed and underdeveloped countries.

The crisis of the world capitalist system has already resulted in a protracted depression comparable to the Great Depression. It is unleashing the forces of fascism and military aggression. It is urgent that we intensify our struggle against imperialism and all reaction (including chauvinism, racism, religious bigotry and war mongering) and for greater freedom, democracy, social justice, full employment and better living conditions, development and world peace.

We salute all the people, organizations and individuals who have waged the anti-imperialist and democratic struggle since a long time ago and in recent times. The current militant mass movements in various continents and countries are inspired by the history of people’s struggle and are driven by the current conditions of extreme exploitation and oppression to fight for the fundamental rights of the people. We are determined to expand and intensify the struggle and to raise it to a new and higher level. ###

ILPS SUPPORTS GENERAL STRIKE IN GREECE,
CONDEMNS ANTI-PEOPLE AUSTERITY MEASURES

By Prof. JOSE MARIA SISON
Chairperson, International Coordinating Committee
21 October 2011

We, the International League of Peoples' Struggle, firmly and vigorously support the general strike declared and carried out by a broad range of forces (including workers, youth, women, public sector employees and various professionals) against the austerity measures aimed at further exploiting the people and shifting the burden of crisis to them.

We condemn the repeated imposition of austerity measures on the people by the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund as precondition for the further release of loans. These austerity measures include tax increases, deep wage cuts, mass lay-offs of public sector employees and repudiation of sectoral pay accords.

These unwelcome and exploitative measures will certainly press down production, increase unemployment and worsen the chronic public deficits of the Greek government. They will further aggravate the economic and financial crisis and will result in the next round of borrowing from the international usurers.

Greece is now on its third year of depression in the wake of the economic and financial crisis of the world capitalist system. The public debt of Greece is 162 per cent of the gross domestic product as a result of profit taking by domestic and foreign exploiters on a consumption-oriented and debt-dependent economy. According to government statistics, unemployment is running at 16.5 per cent.

The rulers of the European Union are worried over the the knock-on effect of the Greek debt crisis on all other countries in the Euro zone. This crisis is the making of the monopoly bourgeoisie and financial oligarchy. They have no reason whatsoever to further exploit the people and shift the burden of crisis by pushing another round of austerity measures.

We congratulate the entire people of Greece and the various forces for their resounding success in mobilizing hundreds of thousands in the vicinity of the parliament and on the major streets of Athens and in rallying millions throughout Greece to unite against the treasonous anti-people government and its masters, the monopoly bourgeoisie and financial oligarchy.

It is just for the people to reject the memorandum of the EU and IMF requiring the legislation of further austerity measures, demand the ouster of the Papandreou government, call for power to the people and wage resistance until such power is realized. The working class and people can prevail over their exploiters and oppressors and aim for national independence, democracy and socialism through resolute and militant struggle.
