Ang pagprotekta niya sa kaniyang interes at ng kaniyang uri ay umaabot sa punto ng paggamit ng dahas laban sa mga walang armas na magsasaka,” said KASAMA-TK Spokesperson Nestor Villanueva. During yesterday’s protest in Laguna, the group trooped to Brgy. Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna to as a symbolic action to denounce militarization in the region. The peasant contingent stormed the barangay hall where military elements occupied the ground floor of the local Anakpawis Partylist office. Three members of the 202nd Infantry Battalion even threatened to use their firearms against the protesting groups that spurred tension between the military and militants that almost concluded with a fist fight. “Ganito sagutin ng estado ang nagkakaisang hanay ng mga mamamayan. Sa tuwing may matutunugang progresibo sa isang lugar, lalagyan agad ng detachment ng military at saka tatakutin.,” said Hermi Marasigan, Pagkakaisa at Lakas ng Manggagawa sa Timog Katagalugan – Kilusang Mayo Uno (PAMANTIK-KMU) officer. Local protests also took place in San Pedro and Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Bacoor, Cavite. The five-day protest led by KASAMA-TK that ends today will culminate at the University of the Philippines in Diliman where a cultural tribute for Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal, whom they considered as a “peasant war hero”, will be held. Rosal, former spokesperson of the Communist Party of the Philippines, died last June 22. x PRESS RELEASE 20 October 2011 11:00 AM Militant peasants strut from Calamba protest camp to Sitio Kabute and Brgy. Pulo to confront military bullies Peasants, armed with their rights, unite with other marginalized sectors to confront the officials assigned at the military detachment located in Sitio Kabute and Brgy. Pulo in Cabuyao, Laguna. The military detachment was established immediately after the demolition of shacks in the said area. “To intimidate the locals and drive them away from their land, military elements are made visible. Detachments are built to paralyze the militant forces in the area,” says Glen Malabanan, secretary-general of KARAPATAN-Southern Tagalog, a comprehensive alliance of human rights workers and paralegal volunteers. However, nothing and no one can stop the peasants from fighting for their most basic needs. Intimidation only makes them more passionate about their struggle. With the support of the farmers and organized groups from other provinces in the region, peasants march, 7:00AM from the regional protest camp in Crossing, Calamba City to Sitio Kabute, where the initial confrontation will be set. Agitated peasants will continue the confrontation at the military detachment in Brgy. Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna, 8:30AM. Then at 12:00 NN, the protesters rally from this site to the picket line of Nestle workers in front of the Nestle compound, also in Cabuyao. A short program will be held in condemnation of the repressing schemes being fulfilled by the US-Aquino government. This confrontation will be dramatized by the Southern Tagalog Cultural Network in a cultural protest, 4:30PM at the plaza of Dita, in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This dramatization is dubbed as “Ritwal ng Pagsugod.” Protests will be in the form of dance, poetry, songs and music. 			x Peasants launch week-long protest against Aquino regime’s land monopoly Thousands of peasants led by the militant peasant group Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magbubukid sa Timog Katagalugan (KASAMA-TK) launched today a week-long protest to expose and condemn the aggravating state of the agriculture sector under the United States (US)-influenced Noynoy Aquino administration. Through the course, the group will banner campaigns against land disputes and massive land-grabbing in different parts of Southern Tagalog (ST). KASAMA-TK also denounced the country’s current abysmal situation in agricultural industries that runs counter to the theme and goal of this year’s World Food Day - which according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) theme is “Food prices – from crisis to stability.” The theme also serves as ‘rallying call’ for nations regarding food security in a world ‘marked by vagaries in the market, political instability and climate change.’ “Sa ganitong kalagayan ng bansa kung saan ang kalakhan ng lupain ay hawak pa rin ng mga panginoong maylupa at ang mga magsasaka ay patuloy na naghihirap at pinapasista ng estado, malayong maging stable ang presyo ng bigas at iba pang produkto ng sakahan para sa mamamayan, (Food prices stability for the people is a far cry from the current situation in the country where landlords own the vast majority of farmlands and where farmers are impoverished and are victims of state fascism) ” KASAMA-TK Spokesperson Nestor Villanueva said. He also added that as long as the Aquino administration does not pass the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill authored by Anakpawis Partylist, food security is far from reach. According to the Department of Agrarian Reform’s accomplishment report from 1972-2012, the agency already distributed a total of 330, 218 hectares of land in Regions 4A and 4B as part of fulfilling its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) requirements. However, according to KASAMA-TK’s independent study, 394,884 hectares of lands in Southern Tagalog are still locked-up in various agrarian cases. These cases include massive land-use conversion, land-grabbing and cancellation of certificate of land ownership award, certificate of land title and emancipation patent This anomaly only means that the PhP500 billion allocation for agriculture will be futile. If the very agencies believed to advance the rights of the farmers are liars and don’t really take the side of the sector they should serve, then exposing the fraudulence is valid.” Villanueva said. The false reports of DAR and the continuing struggle of farmers for genuine land reform are the reasons for the group’s launch of its peasant week themed “Itakwil at labanan ang asyenderong rehimeng US-Aquino!” The group, together with thousands of farmers, supporters and advocates, will be holding simultaneous protests in, Calamba City, Bacoor, in Cavite and Batangas City on October 17-21. Local mobilizations will also be launced in the form of protest camps in the provinces. The week-long protest will culminate in a tribute for Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal, whom the farmers in the region considered as a “peasant war hero”..

x On Day 3 of Peasant week, Militant peasant group condemns 20 year-old Project CALABARZON “Bago pa man magkaroon ng Occupy Wall Street movement sa Estados Unidos, mayroon na sa bansa na mga kampuhan ng magsasakang isinasagawa sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan bilang pagkundena sa malawakang pangangamkam ng lupa (Even before Occupy Wall Street movement took place in the United States, peasant camps outside concerned government agencies have been practiced to condemn massive land-grabbing here in the country),” Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magbubukid sa Timog Katagalugan (KASAMA-TK) Spokesperson Nestor Villanueva said. This is in response to Edwin Lacierda’s claim that protests like that of Occupy Wall Street’s will not happen in the Philippines because the government has been working on ‘inclusive growth.’ According to KASAMA-TK, peasant camps have been assembled in Mendiola and outside the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) during Benigno Aquino III’s first 100 days. One year later, farmers’ sentiments have not changed. “Nariyan pa rin ang malawakang pangangamkam ng lupa at kawalan ng tunay na reporma sa lupa. At pinalala pa ito ng mga iskema ng LUC (land use conversion) tulad ng Project CALABARZON kung saan walang solusyon si Aquino (There still remains massive land-grabbing and absence of genuine land reform. And these made worse by LUC schemes like Project CALABARZON where Aquino has no solution for),” Villanueva added. Project CALABARZON was implemented in 1990 as an economic program for Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. Since then, farmers and fisherfolks have campaigned against massive LUC that turned farm lands into commercial and industrial use. “Ang dating mahirap na kalagayan ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda ay lalo pang humirap dahil sa Project CALABARZON. On Day three of their peasant week, the group will move to Batangas City Provincial Capitol where the Laguna contingent will merge with the Batangas contingent. Protesters will then march to the Batangas Port to hold the symbolic padlocking of one of its gates. 			x PRESS RELEASE Under PNOY, the “good guys” force thousands of Batangueño tillers to camp out and fight for their basic rights! Billboards decorated with one of the hottest bombshells in tinsel town proudly describe the brilliant mind behind SM Development Corporation as “the good guys” while thousands of peasants in Hacienda Looc, Nasugbu, Batangas, are forced out of their agricultural lands, lose their livelihood and suffer from hunger. The 8,650-hectare agricultural land is being converted into high-end condominiums with a luxurious resort and similar leisure facilities. This development program, further induced by President Noynoy Aquino’s “public-private partnership program,” is spearheaded by the Sys, one of the wealthiest and most influential clan in the Philippines. Hacienda Looc is a huge agricultural land that covers 4 barangays—Calayo, Bulihan, Papaya, and Looc. If land-use conversion continues, over 10,000 tillers and fisher folks will be gravely affected. Hunger and suffering due to landlessness will prolong. Peasants of Batangas unite with those of Cavite and Laguna and the rest of Southern Tagalog in this year’s broadest protest action. Protest camps will be simultaneously erected in various key locations—one in Crossing, Calamba City in Laguna, one in Brgy. Bypass, Silang, Cavite, and one near the Provincial Capitol of Batangas in Batangas City. The setting up of protest camps is part of the 2011 Peasant Week commemorative protest action. A kickoff program at the regional protest camp in Crossing, Calamba City will mark the first day of the Peasant Week, 17 October 2011. In Batangas, peasants will march on the 20th of October 2011, from the Provincial Capitol protest camp to the Batangas Pier where a solidarity messages will be delivered by key peasant leaders. This will be followed by a symbolic padlocking of the gates of Batangas Pier. This “padlocking” will be a signification of the peasants’ abhorrence towards nonstop privatization schemes under the semi-feudal rule of Asyenderong PNOY. Collective and organized protest actions in many provinces in the Southern Tagalog region only prove that the current social order aggravated by the US-Aquino regime remains insufficient and ineffective in addressing the most basic needs of the Filipino people! LUPA PARA SA NAGBUBUNGKAL! Simbolo ng kasaysayan ng pang-aapi at pagsasamantala sa masang anakpawis ang mahigit 200-taon na pag-iral ng monopolyo sa lupa ng iilang landlord sa anyo ng sistemang hasyenda habang ang masang magsasaka'y lugmok sa kaapihan at patuloy na biktima ng kawalan o kakulangan ng lupang-masasaka. Larawan ito ng pananatili at lalo pang pagtindi ng kawalan ng pagkakapantay-pantay sa lipunan. Katulad ng mga nagdaang gobyerno, pinakikinabangan at marahas na ipinagtatanggol ng kasalukuyang Rehimeng US-Aquino ang kaayusang ito sa kapinsalaan ng milyun-milyong maralita sa kanayunan at buong sambayanan. Ang isa sa pinakakilalang hasyenda sa bansa, ang Hacienda Luisita, na kinamkam ng angkan ni Noynoy Aquino ay buhay-na-patunay ng kawalang-katarungan sa loob ng hasyenda at sa lipunang nagpapahintulot sa patuloy na pag-iral nito. Sa halip na lutasin ang usaping agraryo sa kanyang sariling bakuran, naging kapuri-puri pa kay Aquino ang naging desisyon ng Korte Suprema na tumitiyak sa pananatili ng Hacienda Luisita sa kanilang kontrol. Itinakda na ng desisyong ito ng korte ang kahihinatnan ng iba pang kasong agraryo sa bansa. Kabilang sa mga kasong ito ang mahigit sa 160-usaping agraryo sa rehiyong Timog Katagalugan kung saan tampok ang pangangamkam ng SM Land sa Hacienda Looc sa Nasugbu, Batangas; ng Ayala Land at Highland Properties sa Hacienda Yulo sa Calamba City; ng Eton Properties sa Sta. Rosa City; banta ng pagpapalayas sa mga magsasaka at mamamayan ng Lupang Ramos sa Dasmariñas City; ng Lupang Arienda sa Rizal; ng Hacienda Reyes at Murray sa Bondoc Peninsula; at ng Guevent Industrial Development Corporation sa Pujalte Estate sa Palawan Sa tala ng Kasama-TK, may 394,884 ektaryang lupang sakahan ang nasasangkot sa iba’t-ibang kaso ng pagpapalit-gamit at pangangamkam ng lupa sa rehiyon. Sa 50-kasong agraryo pa lamang, naitalang 67-panginoong maylupa at 45-real estate developer lamang ang nakikinabang at naghahati-hati sa limpak-limpak na kikitain mula sa mga lupaing ito kumpara sa 156,092 mamamayan na posibleng mapalayas sa kanilang mga sakahan at lupang-panirahan. Sangkot sa mga kasong nabanggit ang pinakamalalaking panginoong maylupa, burgesya kumprador at dambuhalang land developer gaya ng mga Ayala, Cojuangco, Sy, Tan, Zobel, Roxas, Puyat, Lopez, Yulo, Reyes at Murray – sila ang mga pinakamaiimpluwensyang pamilya sa politika at ekonomya ng bansa. Habang si Aquino, na ni hindi man lamang nagkunwaring may malasakit sa mga magsasaka, ay nagpakabihasa pa sa pagbubugaw sa mga lupain at likas-yaman ng bansa sa mga dayuhan. Naging masunuring tuta ng mga dayuhang ahensyang pinansyal si Aquino nang ipagwagwagan nitong isasalba ng Public-Private Partnership ang nangaluluging korporasyon ng gobyerno. Sa ika-21 taon ng pagpapatupad ng Project CALABARZON, lalo pang mag-iibayo ang pagpapalayas sa mga magsasaka sa mga lupang-sakahan lalo na kung maipupuslit sa Kongresong pugad ng mga hasyendero ang pag-amyenda sa mga probisyong ekonomiko ng Saligang Batas. Ang 100% pagmamay-ari ng dayuhan sa mga lupain sa bansa ay katumbas ng pagmasaker sa mga magbubukid nang daang libong ulit na mas marami sa mga pinapaslang ng pamilyang Aquino-Cojuangco sa Hacienda Luisita noong 2004 at sa Mendiola noong 1987. Huwag nang banggitin pa ang mga magsasakang pinaslang sa ilalim ng mga pasistang kontra-insurhensyang kampanya. Sa kasalukuyan, ipinagpapatuloy ng Rehimeng US-Aquino ang sistematikong karahasang ito sa balangkas ng Oplan Bayanihan. Hangga’t nakatayo ang mga hasyenda at iba pang anyo ng monopolyong pagmamay-ari at kontrol sa lupa, lokal man o dayuhan, hindi malulutas ang krisis sa ekonomya sa bansa. Pinananatili ng kaayusang ito ang pagkaatrasado ng agrikultura at pagkabansot ng pambansang ekonomya (at sa gayon ay ang pananatili ng dayuhang dominasyon) – dahilan upang masadlak sa higit pang papalalang hirap ang buong sambayanan. Nag-iimbita ng mas matatalas pang komprontasyon at tunggalian ang pagsasawalang-kibo ng rehimeng ito sa mga lehitimong hinaing ng masang anakpawis. Para sa malawak na maralita sa kanayunan, na kailanman ay hindi nag-ilusyon sa pagbabagong pangako ng Hasyenderong Pangulo – mananagot ang rehimen sa krimen nito sa uring magsasaka at buong sambayanan. Nahihibang ang rehimen kung inaakala nitong laging ang masang magbubukid ang duhagi sa mga bitayan ng Mendiola at Luisita. Nakahanda ang militanteng kilusang magbubukid na isulong at ipagtagumpay ang mas masaklaw at malaganap na pakikibaka para sa tunay na repormang agraryo at demokrasyang bayan.
